Black Balsam Knob via Art Loeb Trail starts in a magical pine forest and leads up to treeless mountaintops with 360 degree views. There are nice rocky features as well as beautiful wildflowers in summer.

The meeting spot is the parallel parking spots alongside the road about 3/4 mile after you turn in on Black Balsam Rd. This will be before you reach the bathroom area.
 
The trailhead is among the first several parallel parking spots on the right about ¾ mile down Black Balsam Rd. 

If needed, go for the bathrooms at Graveyard Fields. Here is a map from Graveyard Fields to Black Balsam
