Black Balsam Knob is one of our favorite mountain elopement locations near Asheville for couples who want big views and a little adventure. A short but uphill hike leads through a beautiful evergreen forest before opening onto a grassy mountain bald with sweeping Blue Ridge Mountain views. We've photographed Black Balsam in sunshine, fog, dramatic clouds and golden light, and somehow it manages to feel magical in all of them.
