Sun-soaked, sword-wielding Asheville waterfall elopement

Weddings are a time for celebrating love and commitment, but not every couple wants to follow the traditional route of a huge, lavish ceremony. For one adventurous couple, tying the knot in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains was the only way to say “I do”. They knew that a waterfall elopement in Asheville, NC would provide the perfect blend of intimacy and breathtaking beauty that you just can’t get at a traditional venue.

In this blog, we’ll dive into their story of choosing a waterfall elopement and their incredible experience eloping at this gorgeous place. Get ready to be swept away by the magic of this unique and unforgettable celebration in nature.

But first….why should elope and have your wedding at a waterfall?

The Breathtaking Scenery

The stunning beauty of a waterfall is a breathtaking backdrop for an elopement. The rush of water, the natural surroundings, and the sound of the waterfall create a romantic and intimate atmosphere. Whether you want a simple ceremony or something more elaborate, the scenery of a waterfall will provide an unforgettable setting for your special day.

The magic factor

Waterfalls evoke a sense of wonder and awe that’s hard to find in any other natural setting. Between the cooling mist, the sound of the ascending water, and the way the light can catch the sun and adorn the scene with a rainbow flare, waterfalls are simply magical!

The fact that it’s an eco-friendly location

An elopement at a waterfall is an eco-friendly choice for couples who want to minimize their impact on the environment. You’ll be surrounded by natural beauty and can take steps to reduce your carbon footprint, such as choosing sustainable transportation options or using eco-friendly decor.

The Couple

Vara and Jamin have been together for 9 years.

Their lakeside proposal occurred at another water spot, over 100 miles away from their ceremony site.

Every year Jamin and Vara head to North Carolina for their anniversary. In January of 2022 they booked a place on Chatuge lake, and on a very cold morning they walked to the lake at sunrise. Vara wanted to take a picture, and as she haphazardly placed her phone in a tree with a timer, she turned around to find Jamin on one knee asking her to marry him, in which she replied “Oh my god did you tell my sisters? wait YES!”

The Ceremony

Jamin and Vara chose to get married in Asheville because North Carolina is a place where they’ve shared nothing but good memories. So they wanted to make the best memory here. They chose Looking Glass Falls because well, who wouldn’t want to get married next to a water fall? You don’t get that type of magic from a traditional wedding!

When we asked Vara was she was looking forward to most about eloping, they said that they can’t wait to be announced husband and wife on their wedding day! You know, verbally, by an officiant. And getting photos with a sword!

The two of them were prom dates in high school, and they’ve worked hard to get to this day, and they were very excited to have no one else invited.

Officiant Rodney led the couple through a sunny ceremony which included personal vows, ring exchange, and a kiss to seal the deal!
