Jade and Joel did it right! They eloped just the two of them with their dog, Remi. It was a Monday night on a mountaintop, Max Patch. It was simple yet gorgeous. This is exactly what we LOVE to do!
We love that they chose a weekday because it meant we had the whole mountaintop to ourselves! It’s really important to choose a weekday for a popular location like Max Patch so that you can avoid the large crowds of people. May was the perfect month to tie the knot. The weather was warm and beautiful but not quite summer (which means there were fewer tourists)!
When deciding on the type of wedding you’d like to have, consider just having it be the two of you, your photographer, and your officiant. Focusing on just the two of you, your love for one another, and your commitment to each other is so important. Couples are always commenting about how simple their day was, and how happy they are they did it this way. Bringing guests is totally up to you, but in our experience, there is an added stress that comes along with that. Feel free to ask us about it and we will talk you through the decision.
It was so much fun that Jade and Joel chose to include their dog Remi in their elopement! He was such a cutie! My favorite photo is the one where he is enjoying the mountain breeze with his eyes closed. So funny! Another favorite is the 3 of them walking up the mountain into the sunset.
Because there weren’t any guests, the couple was flexible to get a late start! That paid off since we had a killer sunset. Often with guests, everyone prefers to start earlier in the afternoon/evening so there is time to get to dinner. This is totally fine and we are flexible to work around this 100%. But, we do often miss the prime golden hour and sunset lighting.
Jade and Joel did a great job setting an example of our ideal elopement (although we love to photograph several different types of weddings). Thank you both for choosing us to photograph your special day! It was such a pleasure working with both of you (and Remi)!
