Black Balsam Elopement | Penny & Matthew by Elope Outdoors

This one is a story for the books! I don’t think we’ve ever had one like this before, and it’s the sweetest!

The bride, Penny, is actually the mother of one of our past brides, Baleigh. She & Alex eloped with us last May! It was great to see them again, and I even had the pleasure of meeting their daughter. Most times I don’t get to see my couples after their elopements, so it was really fun to catch up with them and hear about all of the fun things that have happened since their wedding day. Their daughter is so adorable, and she was certainly competing with Penny to be the star of the show! She was giggling through the ceremony and made it so fun.

But Penny and Matthew have their own beautiful love story:”We met briefly through mutual friends a few years ago. We were in different places in our lives, and when he messaged me out of nowhere and I didn’t think anything of it. He didn’t give up and eventually we went out to dinner. It was so natural, and we’ve not been apart since.

“I can’t begin to explain how perfect we are together and how natural and easy it is. We feel as though we have always been together and that I have known him my whole life, that God just said, ‘Here, this is what I had always planned for you.’”

After seeing her daughter’s intimate wedding in the mountains, Penny and Matthew decided they wanted a similar experience atop Black Balsam. Together, they wanted to focus on their love and the joining of their families. It was beautiful and such a meaningful continuation from her daughter’s wedding.
