Mountaintop Elopement in Asheville | Maria & Brian

Wow! What a glorious day. After all of the weird weather we’ve been having lately, it was a relief to see the sun again. For this intimate family elopement, the warm sun displayed its brilliance, and the day was mild and comfortable. We all had a great time relishing in the beauty.

Maria and Brian are from Jacksonville, Florida, so this was quite the change in scenery for them. When I asked why they chose Asheville for their elopement location, they explained, “Even though we are both from Florida, the mountains are really our happy place. We visited Asheville and fell in love with the city and people! We would truly love to live here one day. In fact, on a rooftop bar in Asheville is where Brian first told me he wanted to marry me someday.”

They are the sweetest couple, and I just had to share a bit of their serendipitous love story:

“We both swiped right, met for dinner & drinks, swore we weren’t looking for anything serious and just never ever, ever stopped talking! :)”

For the proposal, Brian took Maria back to a B&B in Savannah, Georgia where they shared one of their favorite adventures together the year before. While they were walking around the park underneath the huge oak trees, he knelt down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She said yes, and the rest was history

Maria has two daughters that Brian has opened his heart to (and they to him) – watching them together was so sweet. They obviously have a great relationship with each other. The ceremony was powerful as Maria and Brian each read vows to the girls, as well as to each other.

I love how much they incorporated the whole family unit into the ceremony. They performed a sand ceremony as well to signify their family unity. It is a beautiful thing to watch a family profess their love to each other! It was truly amazing to witness.

For this elopement, they were most looking forward to being with the people they love most in a place they love most to begin the first day of our next chapter. I’d say they nailed it! Congratulations, you two!
