How dreamy is this elopement!? I absolutely loved being there for the sweet moments shared between Karli and David. As always, I love hearing the story of how couples meet.  Karli and David look so confident in their love. I have no doubt this is only the first of many thrilling adventures together. (The story of their engagement is certainly an exciting one!)

A Story for the Books

“We’ve considered ourselves ‘committed’ for a while, but I (Karli) was never tied to ever actually getting married. In September 2017, David sent me a letter from Afghanistan asking me to marry him. He included a loose sapphire (my birthstone and favorite gemstone), and he told me to pick out the setting of my choice. (He knows I’m not much of a jewelry person, so he wanted to be sure it was something I really liked). I sent the stone to my favorite jewelry designer in my hometown of New Orleans, and now I have the perfect ring. David’s wedding band will be custom-designed by the same jeweler. Not really a traditional proposal, but I like the way it happened.”

After David returned from his deployment in late June, Karli had already scheduled a long weekend getaway to Asheville. They needed some time just to reconnect and unwind. He asked Karli when their courthouse wedding would take place, but after Karli started looking into options here in Asheville and found our elopement site, the rest was history! They reached out to me by sending a message that would inevitably lead us here to this gorgeous waterfall. What a truly stunning day it was!

One of my favorite parts of being a photographer is capturing unique love stories like Karli and David’s. No two engagements, weddings (or elopements) look the same – and that’s beautiful!
