Kathleen and Rio have been together for eleven years! They both love the outdoors and being in the mountains—they started dating while attending Appalachian State University. When they reached out to me at Elope Outdoors, I knew we were a perfect match! They explained that they are both low-key people who felt overwhelmed by the thought of a large, extravagant wedding. They both said they would much prefer a more quiet, intimate ceremony with close family. I immediately responded knowing that they had come to the right place!
The very-talented Amy captured their ceremony. Knowing their mutual love for mountains, we recommended Max Patch for the ceremony location. True to its strange name, Max Patch is a bald mountain filled with vibrant green grass and a 360-degree view of the Appalachian Mountains as far as the eye can see. It is truly a sight to behold. Kathleen and Rio looked stunning standing atop the grassy mountain, her whips of hair blowing in the breeze. She was truly glowing beneath beams of sunlight. Flourish Flower Farm created a perfect, whimsical bridal bouquet (they are one my favorite florists to recommend because they use mountain-fresh flowers grown right on their farm!).
I love when couples like Kathleen and Rio plan weddings that reflect the essence of who they are. The mountains are part of them. They chose a location where their love began—the symbolism is beautiful! The bond that these two share is unbreakable and inspiring to all who meet them. Congratulations, Kathleen and Rio! Very best wishes for your marriage!
