Melissa and Scott tied the knot in an intimate Asheville outdoor elopement at Black Balsam. Even though it was a bit chilly, the sun was shining bright for us ontop the mountains. Melissa wore a gorgeous maroon/red shawl which went beautifully with her flowers that were put together by Flourish Flower Farm.

The couple met in June of 2016 when Scott was visiting from New York to see if he wanted to move to North Carolina. Melissa was walking her dog, Koda, with her mom in Cary, North Carolina. As they were walking, Scott stopped Melissa and her mom because their dog looked just like his dog, Phoebe, who was also with him. They ended up chatting for an hour and even kept in touch, becoming great friends! Melissa says, “There has been no question about the fact that we wanted to spend our lives together as soon as we began our relationship.”

How cute is that?!

She says, “A lot has happened over the two and a half years that we’ve been friends, and we have often said we wouldn’t have been able to make it through it without each other. When Scott asked if I wanted to marry him, I said yes immediately.” They were so excited to get married they officially say “I do” in the courthouse on December 31st, 2018. They knew they wanted to someday elope outdoors as well though because they wanted their ceremony to just be about the two of them and their dogs. Melissa said, “Scott and I really enjoy going hiking together and visiting the mountains. We hope to live in the mountains within the next year.” They’re even having matching wedding bands created with mountains on them!
