Laid Back Winter Mountain Elopement | Linda & Gabe

Linda and Gabe came all the way from Illinois to tie the knot at their laid back winter mountain elopement. When asked how they decided to come to Asheville they said there were several reasons, “We wanted to be married outside. We love mountains and the outdoors and have never been to North Carolina. We wanted to experience something together that we have never experienced. Also, we know Asheville has a nice craft beer scene.”
I love when couples do exactly what feels best for them as a marriage truly is about the two people in it. I could tell that they were genuinely happy and in love. Linda had the biggest and best smile on her face throughout the entire ceremony.

A part of their story

Linda and Gabe met two and a half years ago. “We first started talking online, right after he retired from the Navy and I was on my way back home from Colorado. We texted back and forth for a couple of weeks. We skipped the traditional first date and he met me at a dog park while I was walking my dog. We walked around the park and talked about whatever came to mind. I knew he was amazing when I realized I had forgotten Ted’s water bowl. Gabe cupped his hands together and took water from a fountain while allowing Ted to drink from his hands. Ted and I fell in love with him at that moment!” Linda says.
They said they were looking forward to “Beautiful scenery and celebrating our love and how far we’ve come. We’ve been through a lot in the short time we have been together. We both believe everything happens for a reason, so what will be is meant to be.” And this was truly meant to be. They chose a gorgeous location which happens to be one of our favorites – Jump Off Rock – just outside of Asheville. They even kept me laughing the whole time. Their ceremony was fun but also very meaningful. One of the funniest moments was when they went to eat their cake and realized they didn’t have any plates. They did, however, have two very large forks for themselves and a few VERY tiny forks for their family! Much to Gabe’s surprise, his brother handmade a box for the couples’ special Blue Ridge beer.

It was a day that we will all truly remember and I loved everything about being these two’s Asheville elopement photographer. Linda and Gabe, you were a blast to work with and made my job easy! I am so happy for the both of you! Congratulations!
